I was representing a seller who was also buying a home with me. After she prepared her home for the market and we got it listed, she discovered she is pregnant. Soon after, her home was under contract and we began shopping for a new home for her family: her husband, two boys and a girl.
We looked and looked. In one neighborhood we saw about 30 homes. It was a great neighborhood, and one of her favorites. After viewing each home, her family would gather around her and patiently wait for the decision: would this be their new home? She rejected one after another, mostly for good reasons. We saw homes outside her area, inside her area, and all over Wake County. They made a reasonable offer for an over priced home. It was rejected. They made a reasonable offer for new construction. The builder countered. She said no. The builder countered again. She said no again. Eventually, the builder was ready to accept her first offer. She said no, I’ve changed my mind.
As the critical point of the process was approaching, she really wanted to find THE HOUSE. I was making suggestions, and I brought up a home in her first and favorite neighborhood. She responded that she no longer liked that neighborhood. I thought maybe I wasn’t clear and again told her more about the house I thought would work for her family. She said that she was sick of the neighborhood!
She eventually decided on a home at an Open House. Her husband was happy and her kids were happy. She changed her mind after the contract was signed and sealed, but her husband reminded her that this was the home she had decided to buy.
As we went through her new home for the walk through, I asked her if she was going to closing to sign the settlement statement? Would she indeed buy this home? She laughed, and conceded. Now, she and her family are happily moved in and have begun to make this new home truly theirs.
All it takes is Patience!!
